IN-TUNE: What Type Of Art Are You Are Involved In?
dzaet: Traditional figurative paintings, surrealism, and symbolism.
IN-TUNE: Who/What inspired you to get into Art?
dzaet: I was simply born to create. All of us, who consider ourselves artists, really had little choice in it.
IN-TUNE: Are there any Artists/Photographers who inspire you today?
dzaet:
Oh, yes. Swanbones (Kelly Louise Judd). Her use of color and the
integration of the Victorian era into her work is superb. Tina Imel is
also an excellent source of inspiration. Her imagery is amazing.
IN-TUNE: At What Age Did You Start Taking Art Seriously?
dzaet:
Well, my first work was "published" at the age of 4. It was put on the
cover of a local school program. However, I don’t think I realized at
that age that I was serious. Art, for me, was always an expression. A
way to express what was occurring in my life, at any given time. I have
become the most serious only this past February. Seems I have a
lifetime of things to "say" on canvas.
IN-TUNE: Do You Have Any Schooling / Training In Art?
dzaet: None. I am completely self-taught.
IN-TUNE: Are You A Member Of Any Arts Organizations?
dzaet: No
IN-TUNE: Do You Sell/Show Your Work At Any Galleries?
dzaet: Not yet, however I am hopeful.
IN-TUNE: Do You Have Any Showings Coming Up?
dzaet: Yes, some of my work will be appearing every weekend thru the summer at Art Expressions, Tanners Creek, Norfolk Virginia.
IN-TUNE: Do You Have A Website Where Your Work Can Be Seen and/or Purchased?
dzaet: Yes. www.dzaet.com
IN-TUNE: What Is your Favorite Art/Photography Subject?
dzaet:
I am almost entirely a figurative painter. I paint, using a lot of
symbolism, about situations that apply to so many of us today, from
abuse, to dysfunctional families. I don’t paint sunflowers, I suppose
my work would cover the human condition and that isn’t always "pretty",
or comfortable.
IN-TUNE: Is your work compared to the work of anyone else?
dzaet:
I will compare my work, emotionally, to that of Frida Kahlo. She
suffered many heartaches, and her way of coping was to immediately
place the pain on the canvas. I do the same thing. Even tho our styles
are different, we are certainly kindred spirits. I could only hope to
be as good an artist as she was.
IN-TUNE: Comments or Info You Would Like Known About You And/Or Your Work?
dzaet:
I paint life. Probably the dirtier side of life. However, even tho I am
not the best artist in the world, my goal would be to touch the viewer
emotionally. Every time I touch the heart of a viewer, I have become a
success. To bring comfort to people, when they realize that they are
not alone in their feelings or experiences. So many, too many, of us
have suffered at the hands or verbal assaults of others. I paint that.
Unfortunately, pain is my home. When you see my work, you are being
welcomed into my home....
